CHURCH MISSION SOCIETY
Founded in 1799, CMS is one of the largest British-based mission agencies, working in 50 countries in evangelism, healthcare, community transformation, training and education. CMS’s involvement in Israel/Palestine dates from the mid-nineteenth century. Today, CMS gives annual grants to the Anglican diocesan hospitals in Gaza and Nablus in the West Bank; works in partnership with the Sabeel Ecumenical Liberation Theology Center and has a number of people in mission. CMS visited Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories in February 2002 to renew old relationships and locate new partners, Israeli and Palestinian, working for reconciliation. Advocacy issues are monitored through the Middle East Forum and the Rediscovering Palestine network.
