FRIENDS OF BIRZEIT UNIVERSITY

Friends of Birzeit University has supported education at the West Bank university since 1978. Their activities are as follows:

Project Development - FoBZU has secured and administered grants totalling £1.5 million for key development projects at Birzeit University, such as the training of school counsellors and their supervisors supported by the Big Lottery Fund.

Fundraising – including: The Hardship Fund, to support Birzeit students during the current difficulties in the region; the Adela Every Scholarship Fund for female undergraduates; and the establishment of annual and endowed scholarships for students who would not otherwise be able to complete their studies.

Campaigning - FoBZU campaigns for the right to education and against human rights violations of Birzeit University students and staff, facilitates the University’s Palestine and Arabic studies programmes and volunteer workcamps, and organises annual study tours to the West Bank.
